What Emomeru Can Do

A Nostalgic Instant-Camera Look

Modeled on real instant prints: faded brownish blacks, highlights that stop at paper white, warm tones and a soft, print-like resolution. Your shot ends up looking like an Instax-style print you'd pin on the wall.

Faces Blurred Like Frosted Glass

No pixelated mosaics or black bars. Just a soft blur that keeps the colors and gently melts the details, so faces become hard to make out without ruining the mood of the photo.

Finds Faces Automatically

AI detects the faces in your photo automatically, even the small ones in a group shot. Missed one? Drag a box around it to add it, then adjust its position and size anytime.

Your Photos Never Leave Your Device

The filter and the face detection both run entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so you can edit photos of your friends with peace of mind.

❓

FAQ

Is it really free?

Yes, completely free. No sign-up or login, and no watermark on saved images. The site is supported by ads.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Both the filter and the face detection run entirely in your browser. Once the page has loaded, it even works offline.

How unrecognizable do faces become?

The higher you set "Blur strength", the stronger the blur and the more facial detail disappears. It is designed to make faces hard for people to recognize; it does not reliably prevent AI face recognition or image restoration.

What if a face isn't detected?

Tap "Edit areas" and drag over the photo to add a hide area. You can move and resize it later with the handles. Faces in profile, very small faces or faces wearing masks may not be detected automatically.

Can it make photos look like instant camera prints?

Yes. Emomeru's look is modeled on the colors and texture of photos shot and printed with an instant camera (think Instax- or Polaroid-style prints). Add the white border or instant-film frame to make it look like an actual print. Instax is a registered trademark of FUJIFILM Corporation; Polaroid is a trademark of Polaroid.

How is this different from a mosaic or stickers?

Mosaics, black bars and stickers make it obvious that something is being hidden, and they change the mood of the photo. Emomeru gives the whole photo a nostalgic texture and then blurs faces like frosted glass, so the hiding blends naturally into the look. If you need faces fully covered, try our sister tool Mozaru.

Can I use iPhone HEIC photos?

Yes. Safari opens them directly, and in browsers that don't support HEIC, they're converted automatically before processing.

Will the image quality drop?

Images are saved at their original resolution (very large images are capped at about 20 megapixels). That said, the look intentionally softens fine details to match the gentle resolution of an instant print.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. It works in iPhone and Android browsers. Please use an up-to-date browser that supports WebGL2.

Does it work with group photos?

Absolutely. Every detected face gets the same blur strength. To hide only certain people, tap "Edit areas", select the areas you don't need and remove them with ×.

Give Your Photos a Nostalgic Look and Hide Faces in Style

What Makes a Photo Look "Nostalgic"?

Photos shot and printed on an instant camera have blacks that fade slightly brown, highlights that stop at the white of the paper, and warm, soft tones overall. That slightly blurry, nostalgic texture is what gives aesthetic photos their charm. Emomeru recreates these traits using real prints as a reference, so a photo taken on your phone looks like a Polaroid-style or Instax-style print.

How to Hide Faces in Style

Hiding faces usually leaves a strong "something is being hidden" impression. Emomeru first gives the whole photo a cohesive nostalgic texture, then blurs only the faces as if seen through frosted glass. The soft colors and edges blend into the mood of the photo, so faces are hidden in a way that looks cute and stylish.

Posting Group Photos on Social Media

Photos from a day out together include lots of people besides you. Blurring faces automatically keeps the fun atmosphere intact while respecting the privacy of everyone in the shot. If someone might mind, it's still a good idea to check with them before posting.

How It Differs from Mosaic and Blur Tools

A mosaic or heavy blur tells viewers "there's something here they want hidden," and the hiding becomes the focus of the photo. Emomeru's frosted-glass blur blends in as part of the look, so the viewer's eye goes to the mood of the memory instead. If you need faces fully covered, try our sister tool Mozaru, or Tsuibi Mozaru for videos.

Tips for Fine-Tuning the Look

Start by checking the overall mood with the default settings. Raise "Blur strength" to hide faces more thoroughly, "Blowout" for a brighter, washed-out feel, "Softness" and "Grain" for a hazy, muted atmosphere, and "Warmth" for an evening or indoor glow. Zoom into the preview to check every face up close.

Supported Formats and Requirements

Input: JPEG / PNG / WebP / HEIC / HEIF. Output: JPEG / PNG. Processing runs on the GPU via WebGL2 and works in the latest browsers on PC, iPhone and Android. Taking photos with the camera is not supported; Emomeru is for editing photos you've already saved.
